Definitely in the eye of the beholder, I'd say. Yikes. So ugly that it is good folk art. I hope that the carver wasn't trying to impress his girlfriend with his rendition of her in her bathing suit. Quebec, Mid 20th century. The head comes off as shown in attached photo #4. Carved hardwood (appears to be maple) and metal bits used for facial features. 17" wide, 3 1/2" deep, 19" tall.
