Beautiful 8"x 11" pastel portrait of a young woman by Montreal master Charles de Belle (1873-1939). In his 2003 book Canadian Art - Selected Masters form Private Collections, author A.K. Prakash describes de Belle as an "undiscovered painter of dreams" referring to the fact that he was relatively unappreciated until after his death. His work has been carried by dealers such as Walter Klinkhoff, and Max Stern of Montreal, and G. Blair Lang of Toronto. This work is in excellent condition on proper archival acid free mounting. Framed it measures 12" x 15". Out of necessity, it is photographed under glass so looks slightly altered from actual appearance.
