This church scene in a primitive hand made box was made in the Waterloo, Ontario region sometime, I would estimate in the second quarter of the 20th century. Maker unknown, but it has been suggested to me that it may be an early piece by Jacob Roth. There are similarities to his work but really not much to go by. In any case, it is very well done and in excellent untouched condition. You can see in the attached photo #4 that the priest is made of wire and cloth, and the ground covering is little glued down bits of wood chips. 15" wide, 9" deep, 16 1/2" tall.
