fantastic folk art channel marker from Quebec

This fanciful wood and metal channel marker was created by an unknown artist, to mark the opening of his/her boating channel along the St. Lawrence river near Trois Riviere, Quebec. It was made sometime in the mid 20th century. It is shown in the photo on a heavy cardboard tube, but it originally sat atop a pole (see attached photo 7 below). As found. Under the metal cone on top there is a later placed piece of plywood over the original boards which doesn't show much. The original top is underneath so this could be removed. The door is hinged and opens. A great folk art focal piece for a large alcove, or on top of a cupboard (it's big!) 60" long. 31" wide. 25" tall.
